
I’m starting a video series where I break down business, real estate and life things that may be a bit unpopular. I’ve always been a bit unconventional with certain things, especially when it comes to finances and this way of thinking has allowed me to get to where I am today.
In this video, I talk about the often heard phrase of living for the weekend and how I no longer subscribe to that notion. However, this is how it was for me for years.
Work 8-6pm, collect a paycheck, countdown the days to the weekend.
There is nothing wrong with having a traditional 9-5 gig…heck it helped me save for financial independence, helped with financing our refinances so we could buy more properties, gave me benefits (including a 401K!). The problem with that for me, was I used to think that was the only way to live – the only way to make money – the only way to remain safe.

It took me years of building our real estate business in the mornings, weekends, evenings – with Mike not receiving a paycheck for the work he did on our properties – to get to where we are today.
This slow building of our business has brought us to the life we live now – which often involves playing when we want and working when we choose. Is it always as glamorous as all of that? Flip a house or have a budget be blown with a $20K foundation issue and you tell me! But, it’s a huge shift from how I used to spend my time. I am now extremely intentional about
The road less traveled isn’t always easy and it’s definitely not for everyone. But it has made all the difference.
